WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The convenience store chain Wawa is soon to reach North Carolina.
On Tuesday, the company hosted a tour in three North Carolina cities, starting in Wilmington to talk about their expansion plans.
Wawa is a privately held, family and associate-owned chain with more than 1,000 locations currently operating in seven states and Washington, DC.
The event included an announcement that 10 locations will be coming to the Cape Fear. The new convivence stores will be located at:

- Ocean Hwy & Lanvale Rd. Leland, NC
- 3 Green Swamp Road NW Supply, NC
- S. 17th St. & Wellington Ave. Wilmington, NC
- 6800 Carolina Beach Rd. Wilmington, NC
- 9021 Stephens Church Road Wilmington, NC
- 4113 U.S. 421 Wilmington, NC
- 7375 Market Street Wilmington, NC
- 5400 Oleander Drive Wilmington, NC
- 19240 Highway 17 Hampstead, NC
Brian Schaller is the president of Wawa. He said he’s thrilled to bring the chain to the Cape Fear.
“We’re just really excited about Wilmington and the growth, the chance to serve more customers,” he said. “We’ll create up to 3,000 jobs in the state of North Carolina over the next five to ten years. That really gives us a lot of happiness because we thrive on that personal excitement and fulfilling lives.”
In addition to Wilmington, Wawa also plans to open new locations in Jacksonville and Fayetteville.
